“We’re aware of the situation, and Antar has been suspended indefinitely, per department policy,” MU football spokesman Chad Moller said.
MUPD arrested Thompson on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner and resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing, per MUPD spokeswoman Sara Diedrich.
Thompson was arrested around 4 p.m. on Sunday. This stemmed from the initial incident that occurred around 9 p.m. on Friday, according to Diedrich.
Police said Thompson did not stop when an officer attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation. Thompson had just been stopped ten minutes earlier by another officer on suspicion of speeding.
“Due to officers knowing the identity of the driver, the brief pursuit was abandoned,” Diedrich said. “Thompson was taken into custody without incident on Sunday afternoon.”
Diedrich added Thompson was booked into the Boone County Jail with a bond set at $2,000. He is not listed as a current detainee at the Boone County Jail.
The St. Louis native played in four games last year. Thompson finished the season with four tackles. He’ll be a redshirt senior this fall for the Tigers.
