Three Bryant University student-athletes were arrested Monday following an assault at a townhouse on campus Sunday, according to the Smithfield police.The three are Joseph Kasperzyk, 19, a basketball player from 155 Halper Avenue, New Haven, Connecticut; Zahir Williams, 20, a football player from 680 Beck Street, Bronx, New York; and Shelton McNeal, 20, also a football player, of 1741 Washington Avenue, Lakeland, Florida.
They have been charged with breaking and entering, simple assault, disorderly conduct and conspiracy.
Smithfield police investigated after receiving a call from Bryant Public Safety at 2 a.m. Sunday about an assault.
The townhouse residents told the police they were awakened by people who had entered the residence and began banging on bedroom doors, demanding that the occupants get out of their rooms. According to the police, Kasperzyk, Williams and McNeal then assaulted two of the residents, broke a TV and tore posters off the walls.
According to Bryant, the three students have been suspended from their teams. The dean of student life will initiate a conduct review to determine “their status as students going forward,” Elizabeth O’Neil, associate vice president for university relations, said in an emailed statement.
Two Idaho football players charged with theft
MOSCOW – Two Idaho football players have been charged with theft according to the University’s sport department.
Christian Elliss, son of Defensive Line Coach Luther Elliss and Dalton Cash attempted to steal over $100 in food from the Moscow Walmart last month.
“We make it very clear that the actions of our student-athletes reflect on more than just themselves and when those actions are not in line with our program’s expectations there will be consequences,” Petrino said in a statement from Idaho Athletics. “Christian and Dalton made a poor decision and they will both be suspended for the first game of the 2019 season.”
Both the linebackers will be in Latah County District Court for arraignment Wednesday morning.
Georgia linebackers Brenton Cox and Robert Beal arrested on possession of marijuana charges
ATHENS — Georgia linebackers Robert Beal and Brenton Cox were arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana on Tuesday. The pair was arrested by the UGA Police Department at 3:13 p.m. with less than one ounce of marijuana, according to the Athens-Clarke County jail booking recap report. The arrest takes place less than one week after Coach Kirby Smart said disciplinary issues that had cropped up earlier this spring would be “handled the right way.”

Robert Lewis, Boise State football player, arrested on DUI charge
BOISE — Boise State defensive back Robert Lewis was arrested early Friday morning and charged with driving under the influence.
According to arrest records on the Ada County Sheriff’s website, Lewis was arrested by Boise Police and booked into the Ada County Jail at 3:25 a.m.
Lewis, 22, is a backup cornerback that saw action in 10 games and had two tackles last season as a redshirt sophomore. Boise State released a short statement Friday morning that said, “Boise State is aware of the situation and will handle according to department policy.”
An incident report from Boise Police said officers stopped Lewis after he ran a red light at the intersection of Capital and Bannock at 2:10 a.m. Friday morning. It was at that point they ‘observed an odor of alcohol and other signs of possible impairment.’
According to the report, a breath alcohol test resulted in a .104/.100. The legal limit in Idaho is .08, so Lewis was taken to the Ada County Jail and booked for driving under the influence, a misdemeanor charge.
Boise State is in the middle of spring practices and had practice Friday evening. Lewis, a Los Angeles native, was seen watching practice from outside the fence.
Coach Bryan Harsin is scheduled to meet with the media Saturday evening for a previously scheduled session following a closed scrimmage.

Tae Provens, LSU running back, arrested on third degree rape charges
LSU running back Alphonso “Tae” Provens has been released on bond after being arrested on third degree rape charges, according to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Provens was placed in custody at 1:22 p.m. on Wednesday and booked into EBR Parish Prison before being released on a $15,000 listed bond.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on March 24 between 3-4:40 a.m. in Provens’ apartment at Nicholson Gateway on LSU’s campus.
The victim and another female went back to Provens apartment in Riverbend Hall after spending part of their night in Tigerland, according to the arrest report obtained by NOLA.com | The Times Picayune.
The victim said when she asked to use the restroom, Provens offered her to use the bathroom in his bedroom but then followed her into the room. The victims’ memory became hazy at that point and she “blacks out.”
The victim told police the next thing she remembers was Provens removing her shirt and the victim clutching her underwear as it was being removed. She then states Provens began to sexually assault her but stopped momentarily as the victim said, “No, no, no.”
The report states Provens continued the assault, but the victim was able to get up from under him and get dressed before leaving the room.

Tyrique Stevenson, Georgia defensive back, becomes third football player arrested in March
Georgia freshman Tyrique Stevenson was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct on Sunday morning, according to the Athens-Clarke County Jail booking report.
According to the jail booking recap report, Stevenson was booked at 2:42 a.m. He was released at 3:26 a.m. on a $1,000 bond.
Tyrique Stevenson joins Latavious Brini and Jaden Hunter as three Georgia football players to be arrested in the past month.

Kenneth George Jr., Tennessee football player, arrested in Miami Beach
Kenneth George, a University of Tennessee football player is accused of punching a Miami Beach police officer and then running from officers who tried to take him into custody.
George faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct.
According to a Miami Beach police report, George was being combative with officers who was walking in the middle of Espanola Way.
Police said George was cursing at one of the officers and ignoring his commands. As the officer tried to get him out of the street, George punched him and knocked the police radio out of his hands, the report said.

Jaden Hunter, University of Georgia football player, arrested
Jaden Hunter faces misdemeanor charges that include driving with a suspended license and standing/stopping/parking in a prohibited area. Specifics of the arrest were not immediately available. The University of Georgia Police Department is reporting the arrest of a Georgia Bulldog football player.
Hunter, the son of former Bulldog player Brice Hunter, is a rising junior on this year’s team. He played at Westlake High School in Atlanta. The arrest comes as Hunter and his Bulldog teammates are beginning spring football practices.

Tommy Champion, Mississippi State offensive lineman, arrested by campus police
Tommy Champion, Mississippi State red-shirt senior offensive lineman, was arrested by the university’s police department on Wednesday for multiple traffic violations. Joel Coleman of the Starkville Daily News first reported Champion’s booking.
According to Oktibbeha County records, the car Champion was driving had an expired tag, and he also had an expired license and no insurance. Driving without a valid license is a misdemeanor in Mississippi; Champion could face a fine and/or be sentenced to extended jail time of up to six months.
Driving without proper tags is usually penalized by a basic traffic ticket, but driving without insurance can result in a $1,000 fine and a suspended license for up to one year. Champion, obviously, is already without a valid license.
On the football field, Champion hasn’t been able to work his way into a starting job during his time at Mississippi State. He red-shirted in 2017 and played sparingly as a back-up in 2018. Entering his final season in maroon and white, Champion is still stuck behind entrenched starters on the depth chart.
