Lere Oladipo, University of Illinois football player arrested (The Fulmer Cup Offseason)

Lere Oladipo The Fulmer CupLere Oladipo booked on preliminary charge of domestic battery. Per information obtained from University of Illinois police department spokesman Patrick Wade, Oladipo, 20, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Sunday in a University of Illinois parking lot in the 100 block of East Peabody Drive.

Police initially were called by someone who heard a woman screaming and observed a man, later identified as Oladipo, forcing her into a car. The arriving officers observed that the woman had a minor injury to her lip. Oladipo was then arrested and taken to the Champaign County Jail.

Brady Reiff, Iowa football player, arrested after drunkenly mistaking police car for Uber

The Fulmer Cup Brady ReiffBrady Reiff, a University of Iowa football player was arrested early Saturday morning in Iowa City after he allegedly mistook a police car for an Uber.

Accused of public intoxication, Brady Reiff, 22, a starting defensive tackle for the UI football team, approached a parked UI police cruiser on Iowa Avenue at about 2 a.m. and attempted to open the vehicle’s passenger door, according to UI police.

When Reiff noticed there was a rider sitting in the passenger seat, police said he moved to the back door and attempted to open it.

When asked what he was doing, police said Reiff asked for a ride home. “He thought that was our job,” the police report states.

When asked if he thought the vehicle was an Uber, police said Reiff replied “Yes.”

According to the arrest report, a breathalyzer test showed Reiff’s blood alcohol content was .204 — more than twice the legal limit if he were driving — at the time of his arrest.

Reiff was taken to Johnson County Jail and released at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said Monday at Big Ten media days in Chicago that Reiff will be suspended for Iowa’s season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 1.

Reiff, a junior, recorded 13 tackles, with one tackle for loss and one sack, during last year’s season.

Vols’ Ryan Thaxton suspended after domestic assault, false imprisonment charges

University of Tennessee football player Ryan Thaxton was suspended Monday after a Sunday night arrest.

The second-year defensive lineman was charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment of his girlfriend, according to online court records.

“We are aware of the incident,” Tennessee football spokesman Zach Stipe wrote Monday in a statement to USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee. “The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities while law enforcement and the university investigates.”

According to online court records, Thaxton is accused of pushing his girlfriend toward his room when she refused to accompany him to his dorm. Thaxton then carried her inside the dorm room, where an argument took place, and he blocked the door when she attempted to leave, according to records.

Tiger football player, Jared Gentry, dismissed, suspended after drug charge

Jared Gentry The Fulmer CupMEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jared Gentry, a defensive lineman for the University of Memphis football team has been dismissed from the team and placed on interim suspension from campus after he was charged with drug possession Thursday.

Jared Gentry faces a charge of possession with intent to sell. Memphis Police say they searched his room in student housing at the university and found two wrapped bags of marijuana weighing nearly 30 grams, in addition to clear baggies and scales.

He was dismissed from the football team for violating team rules and suspended for violating U of M student code. The matter is being reviewed by the Office of Student Accountability, Outreach and Support.

Myles White, Coastal Carolina football player suspended after criminal sexual conduct charge

Myles White The Fulmer CupMyles White, a Coastal Carolina football player has been suspended indefinitely from the team after police charged him with third degree criminal sexual conduct, university officials say.

White, 20, was arrested by police about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and is still incarcerated at J. Reuben Long Detention Center as of Wednesday morning, records show. A $5,000 bond was set.

Associate athletic director for media relations Mike Cawood said White has been suspended from the football team indefinitely, and added the football coaching staff would not have a comment on a pending legal matter.

Iowa State defensive lineman, Kamilo Tongamoa, suspended following arrest

Kamilo Tongamoa The Fulmer CupIowa State defensive lineman Kamilo Tongamoa has been suspended from the team following an arrest Sunday morning.

Story County Jail and Iowa State Police officials said Tongamoa was arrested at 2:26 a.m. Sunday by ISU Police for OWI – first offense, striking an unattended vehicle, failure to have a valid license and for not having insurance.

He was transported to the Story County Jail.
