Thirteen of the 20 Alcorn State football players arrested in connection with an April 10 fight on campus had charges against them dropped or dismissed. The other seven were found guilty of simple assault and ordered to pay fines of $100, with half that total suspended.

West Virginia receiver Marcus Simms has DUI charges dropped

West Virginia receiver Marcus Simms, suspended for Sunday’s game against Virginia Tech, had DUI charges dropped in his home state of Maryland, sources told the Gazette-Mail on Wednesday.

Simms was suspended after being recently charged with DUI early Aug. 13 in Morgantown and found to be driving with a revoked license due to the DUI charges in Maryland.

Murray State running back dismissed after report of robbery at gunpoint.

Murray State ArrestA possible robbery in Murray, Kentucky lead to the arrest of one man on Saturday, Aug. 26.

The man is reported to be 19-year-old Mareio McGraw of Pulaski Tennessee. McGraw was dismissed from his position as running back for Murray State on Saturday, one day after the incident.

Two UF football players busted with marijuana in on-campus housing

Ventrell Miller Robinson The Fulmer CupTwo University of Florida football players, one of whom was already suspended for the team’s opener against Michigan, were cited this week for having marijuana in their on-campus apartment, a UF Police report says.

Ventrell Miller and James Robinson were charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana on Monday.

KU football team dismisses Maciah Long following arrest

The Fulmer Cup Maciah LongKansas Jayhawks linebacker Maciah A. Long was dismissed from the football team after he allegedly threatened a woman with a handgun and was arrested Sunday. Long, 19, was charged Monday with aggravated assault with use of a deadly weapon, a felony, and two misdemeanors, criminal damage to property and marijuana possession. According to Douglas County District Court documents, Long is also alleged to have damaged or destroyed the woman’s television.
