Ryder Lucas, Arkansas Razorback Football Player, Arrested for DWI

The Fulmer Cup Ryder LucasRyder Lucas, a University of Arkansas football player was arrested Sunday for driving while intoxicated.

Ryder Matthew Lucas, 22, faces charges of driving while intoxicated and careless/prohibited driving.

On Sunday morning, an officer said he was driving northbound on North College Avenue when he saw a black GMC Sierra “cross left of center.”

The officer said he followed the vehicle and witnessed the driver almost hit the concrete structure of a bridge. The officer then pulled the driver over and identified him as Lucas.

“Lucas had a flushed face, bloodshot and watery eyes, and a strong odor of intoxicants coming off of his breath and person,” the preliminary report states.

The officer asked Lucas if he had consumed any alcohol, and he told the officer he had consumed whiskey. He then showed the bottle of alcohol to the officer.

Lucas told the officer he understood his rights and agreed to provide a breath sample. His breath alcohol concentration was 0.09 percent.

Lucas was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

He was released on a $935.00 bond.

Texas LB Demarco Boyd charged with misdemeanor assault for July 4 incident

University of Texas linebacker Demarco Boyd has been charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from an altercation following a July 4 car crash in West Austin, Assistant Police Chief Troy Gay confirmed to the American-Statesman.

Boyd turned himself into Travis County officials and was released Thursday. Austin police said the official charge is assault with injury, a class A misdemeanor.

An arrest affidavit in the case is expected to be made public Friday. Austin police have been investigating the incident since July 4, interviewing numerous witnesses. Boyd is accused of assaulting a 20-year-old out-of-town visitor at the scene of the crash near Enfield and Mopac (Loop 1), badly damaging a car he was in.

Boyd, a sophomore from Gilmer, has played in four career games at Texas. He redshirted in 2016 and then was used sparingly last season. He was a two-way player at Gilmer and a two-time all-state selection.

In a statement, Texas coach Tom Herman said, “We are aware of the situation with Demarco Boyd and have suspended him from all team activities at this time. We will continue to monitor the legal process and pending its completion, determine any further action.”

Gator freshman Justin Watkins arrested for second time, facing felony charges

Justin Watkins The Fulmer CupGator wide receiver Justin Watkins has been arrested in Gainesville and faces four charges( two felony counts) including two counts battery, kidnapping/false imprisonment. and domestic battery by strangulation.

According to the arrest report, on July 20th, Watkins intentionally struck a woman, both with an open and closed fist on both sides of her head while he held her down on a bed.

The report goes on to say Watkins choked the woman multiple times while continuing to pin her down on the bed.

Police say Watkins then confined the women to his dorm room by standing in the doorway and blocking the exit.

The report says the woman was physically restrained by Watkins until she sprayed him with mace out of self defense.

Police say Watkins then chased the woman out, threw multiple items at her including a brush and container of “hair grease” causing bleeding and swelling.

The Gators have suspended Watkins indefinitely.

This is Watkins second arrest of the offseason. He was charged in May for trespassing near Vanguard High School after following a woman to a gas station, destroying her phone, kicking her car.

Brady Reiff, Iowa football player, arrested after drunkenly mistaking police car for Uber

The Fulmer Cup Brady ReiffBrady Reiff, a University of Iowa football player was arrested early Saturday morning in Iowa City after he allegedly mistook a police car for an Uber.

Accused of public intoxication, Brady Reiff, 22, a starting defensive tackle for the UI football team, approached a parked UI police cruiser on Iowa Avenue at about 2 a.m. and attempted to open the vehicle’s passenger door, according to UI police.

When Reiff noticed there was a rider sitting in the passenger seat, police said he moved to the back door and attempted to open it.

When asked what he was doing, police said Reiff asked for a ride home. “He thought that was our job,” the police report states.

When asked if he thought the vehicle was an Uber, police said Reiff replied “Yes.”

According to the arrest report, a breathalyzer test showed Reiff’s blood alcohol content was .204 — more than twice the legal limit if he were driving — at the time of his arrest.

Reiff was taken to Johnson County Jail and released at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said Monday at Big Ten media days in Chicago that Reiff will be suspended for Iowa’s season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 1.

Reiff, a junior, recorded 13 tackles, with one tackle for loss and one sack, during last year’s season.

USC WR Joseph Lewis Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge for 2nd Time This Year

The Fulmer Cup Joseph LewisUSC wide receiver Joseph Lewis was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge Wednesday night after an alleged altercation with a woman at a Los Angeles residence.

On Thursday, TMZ Sports reported the woman fled the home and called police, who later arrested Lewis. He was taken into custody on $100,000 bail.

In February, Lewis was arrested on five misdemeanor charges related to a domestic violence case. He accepted a plea deal that saw him serve 21 days in jail.

No further information about the altercation was immediately released.

Lewis was suspended indefinitely from the Trojans’ football program following the February arrest. He told the Los Angeles Times in May that he was hopeful of being reinstated for fall camp, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 3.

The L.A. native was a 5-star prospect and the No. 31 overall player when he committed to USC as part of the 2017 recruiting class, per 247Sports.

He made four catches for 39 yards and no touchdowns in 11 appearances as a true freshman.

Zach Smith Arrested For Criminal Trespassing, Appears in Court

The Fulmer Cup Zach SmithOhio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith appeared in court Wednesday afternoon after being charged with criminal trespassing, stemming from an incident in mid-May, according to a Delaware Municipal Court record.

According to an arrest record obtained by Eleven Warriors, police were dispatched to the home of Courtney Carano Smith, Zach Smith’s ex-wife, around 8 p.m. on May 12. The report indicates that there was no forced entry and no suspected use of alcohol or drugs. Smith was charged with criminal trespassing, and has since pleaded not guilty.

According to the criminal complaint also obtained by Eleven Warriors, “Mr. Smith took his son to his ex-wife’s residence (redacted) to drop him off after being instructed by Ms. Smith not to come to her residence and disregarding a previous criminal trespass warning that had been given to him by Detective Pentz on Dec. 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. The incident was witnessed by Ms. Smith and their son along with photographs of Mr. Smith’s vehicle being present in her driveway. Mr. Smith also admitted to Sgt. Roach that he was present on Ms. Smith’s property and acknowledged receipt of the trespass warning given to him by Detective Pentz.”

Per the criminal complaint, criminal trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and/or a $250 fine.

Ohio State has not commented on the situation.

Vols’ Ryan Thaxton suspended after domestic assault, false imprisonment charges

University of Tennessee football player Ryan Thaxton was suspended Monday after a Sunday night arrest.

The second-year defensive lineman was charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment of his girlfriend, according to online court records.

“We are aware of the incident,” Tennessee football spokesman Zach Stipe wrote Monday in a statement to USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee. “The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities while law enforcement and the university investigates.”

According to online court records, Thaxton is accused of pushing his girlfriend toward his room when she refused to accompany him to his dorm. Thaxton then carried her inside the dorm room, where an argument took place, and he blocked the door when she attempted to leave, according to records.
