Dai’Jean Dixon, Nicholls State University football player, 20, was arrested by the Thibodaux Police Department for an alleged possession with intent to distribute marijuana charge on Saturday after 84 grams of the suspected substance were discovered in his car, according to a police report. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop for speeding in the 600 block of East 1st Street when officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle’s interior.
Dixon admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol prior to the stop, but denied being in possession of any marijuana at first. Dixon then submitted to and passed all Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.
After denying requests to search the vehicle, a K-9 later alerted officers to the odor of narcotics.
